Resign a job gracefully!

A new job is always promising. The enthusiasm and vigor a new employee carries along is splendid. It is a threshold of a new career path, and an employee has to cross the milestones, building a career and emerge victoriously. Two contradicting situations, one is the start of a professional relation with the company and the second is the end of the relation with the company.  Joining a firm is a pleasure and parting is pain.There can be umpteen numbers of reasons as to why an employee would want to resign. Family Problems, Salary Issues, Flexibility Issues, Excessive Work Load, Grudges with Colleagues etc. to highlight a few.  No matter how grave is the situation, resigning a job gracefully creates value.Considerations A tough Decision It is indeed hard to believe that the job profile which lured you to the company and the considerable amount of time spent within the company is going to be history. The happy and sad moments shared with colleagues, the efforts poured in to generate growth to the company, is now going to remain down the memory lane and it's time to bid adieu to all.Stand firm on your decision, do not dwindle, and look into the pros and cons before declaring your final verdict to quit.  Foresee your future goals and try out various options where you can start after you quit.Compare the AlternativeIf salary or profile is the major factor making you quit the job, wait, think twice. Simply don't plan to jump for monetary gains or outlined profiles, compare the job option you have in hand and the job you are currently aiming at. If you find that the new job is far better than the current one in every angle then you can proceed with your decision.Appropriate Notice PeriodYou've remained an integral part of the organization. You shoulder certain roles and responsibilities, and your abrupt exit will create a void. Abide by the rules, serve the notice period. Allow the company to find an alternative to fill your vacant place, ensuring smooth transition of business.Exit Interview - Straightforward ApproachDon't manipulate your speech. Emphasize on the positives and the way the company benefitted you, but it's time to move on. Do Offer to extend help during the transition and afterwards. Be as simple and clear in conveying your message to the employers.Resignation LetterThough you may convey your motive to resign by the "word of mouth", penning a resignation in black and white gives it a professional touch. Maintain a positive relation with your employer, understanding that you may need his help to provide reference, to release you documents and so on, even after you leave. ConclusionThere is excessive attrition and companies are helpless in tackling this.
